Some of what we've been up to... 29 March 2013 - GOOD FRIDAY APPEAL Some of our members and friends rattled tins and raised $6,042.70 for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal. Thanks to our friends Hannah and Louise, and members Ange, Adrian, Helen, Peter L, Steve M, Terry, Candice, Jon T, Sean and Peter W. 27 March 2013 - DEREEL St Andrews Tanker 2 was rostered on to Nillumbik Group Long Haul Strike Team 1421, and went to the Dereel fire, south of Ballarat in the early afternoon. There were dozens of fire trucks, together with bulldozers, aircraft, etc., dealing with a large fire that burnt 16 houses and 1,300 hectares. Four of our members, and a colleague from Kangaroo Ground CFA, crewed our truck, returning home at 3 a.m.  14 March 2013 - GRASS FIRE Grass fire between two houses in Goldmans Rd. You can see one got a bit singed - got there in the nick of time.  |
